We do the glass inside and out, wipe the frames, clean the sills and the tracks, and pull the screens to wash them separately instead of putting a caked screen back over clean glass. We bring our own water and our own solution, and we dry the edges by hand so there is no line left along the bottom of the pane.
Most houses take part of a day. Storm windows, transoms, the tall ones over the stairs nobody has touched in years, we get those from the ladder. Drop cloths go down inside, boots come off at the door, and you should not be able to tell we were in the house except that you can suddenly see out of it.
