Deck washing

That gray is not worn out wood.

A deck goes gray and slick and most people decide it is worn out. Usually it is not. What you are standing on is a layer of mildew and weathered fiber sitting on top of perfectly good boards, and it is the reason the steps are treacherous on a wet morning.

Wood does not want pressure. Push a wand hard into a pine board and you raise the grain, leave wand marks that never sand out, and open the wood up to hold even more water next time it rains. We wash decks at low pressure with a cleaner made for wood, work with the grain, and let the solution lift the gray instead of tearing it off.

Composite gets the same care with a different product. When we are finished the boards are clean, the railings and spindles are done, and the surface is open and ready for stain or sealer after a few dry days. If you have a staining date in mind, say so when you call and we will time it around you.

What you get

  • Low pressure and a wood-safe cleaner, so the grain stays closed.
  • Railings, spindles and stair treads, not just the floor boards.
  • Takes the slick off, which is a safety problem before it is a looks problem.
  • Composite decking washed with a product meant for composite.
  • Timed around your stain or seal date when you have one.
